From 4 to 10 June 2018, Milan becomes the centre of the world of photography with the second edition of the Milan Photo Week: exhibitions, conferences, guided tours, workshops, screenings, educational projects and editorials in every district of the city for a whole week.
Milan Photo Week has an incredibly eventful programme: 170 events scheduled to see, understand, discover, feel, try photography, from the direct experience of great photographers to the work of young people, from war reports to images from the fashion world, from architectural photos to contemporary art, from biographies of the protagonists to the description of the changing cities.
Heart of the 2018 edition is Palazzo Reale, with four new photography exhibitions, two cycles of free admission meetings, three open-air cinema evenings in the courtyard. Among the places and institutions involved in the event also GAM Milano, BASE Milano, La Triennale di Milano, Palazzo Litta, Museum of Contemporary Photography, Fondazione Stelline, Armani / Silos, Fondazione Prada, Frigoriferi Milanesi, MiBACT, Vatican Museums.
One of the most important events will be the meeting with the four italian photographers who won the World Press Photo 2018, one of the most remarkable prizes for photojournalism, celebrating its 61th edition. The annual photo contest, organized in categories, rewards photographers for the best single exposure pictures contributing to the past year of visual journalism.
The four italian rewarded photographers are Giulio Di Sturco (More Than a Woman, Contemporary issue, 2nd prize); Alessio Mamo (Manal, Portraits, 2nd prize) ; Francesco Pistilli (Lives in Limbo, General news, 3rd prize); Fausto Podavini (Omo Chang, Long-term project, 2nd prize).
The debate will have place at Galleria Carla Sozzani (Corso Como,10) on June 6th at 7 pm.
